They Came from Beyond is a sonic documentary journey fermented from plants, flavors, voices, and the insular soundscapes of Hiiumaa, an island in the Baltic Sea, 22 kilometers off the Estonian mainland. It invites listeners to a warm summer night around a bonfire, where local mosquitoes mingle with distant memories and the salty air carries stories of migration, and belonging. It follows migrating birds, shipwreck legends, extraterrestrial bodies, washed-ashore seeds, near-impossible love, and rare ingredients that become staples. Through these threads, it explores what it means to be both foreign and local, outsider and insider, and how the boundaries between them shift and blur.
