OPEN CALL

We invite audio documentary creators to be part of our international programme of audio documentary festival BANGUOJA 2026.

Taking place for the 5th time in Vilnius, Lithuania, Audiofestival BANGUOJA presents local and international audio documentaries translated into Lithuanian and projected onto screens and building walls across the city. With a strong focus on human rights, the festival explores social realities through sound and storytelling. It brings together professional and emerging audio documentary creators and listeners, creating a shared listening experience.

What we are looking for

We welcome submissions in the following formats:

  • Short-form works (up to 15 minutes)

  • Long-form works (up to 60 minutes)

We are looking for non-fiction, narrative audio documentaries and crafted audio storytelling pieces — works that are shaped through sound, structure, and intention. We are interested in stories that use sound and storytelling creatively and thoughtfully.

Interview-based talk shows or podcasts are not eligible. Works may be previously broadcast, published or presented elsewhere, or newly created. Both are welcome.

Works can be submitted in any language. If the original language is neither Lithuanian nor English, please provide a translated script for selection purposes.

Depending on the format, duration and thematic direction, selected works may be presented as part of a curated listening session, included in a thematic showreel, or integrated into an installation format. The festival will provide Lithuanian translation and subtitles, ensuring the works can be experienced by local audiences.

2026 Focus: Finding each other

In the context of increasing polarisation across societies, we are looking for stories that explore possibilities of dialogue and connection.

Where do people with opposing views still encounter each other?

What does it take to stay in conversation?

Can sound create space for listening where politics fails?

The theme may unfold broadly – through migration stories, generational tensions, political divides, community conflicts, unexpected solidarities, etc. We are drawn to works that resist simplification and look for nuance and complexity. Priority will be given to works that engage with this year’s theme, but submissions on other topics are also welcome.
